One of the most fascinating countries I have traveled to is Japan. I have already dedicated a fragrance to this country, Kobe Gardens. Now comes the second one, called Hakama.
Hakama is a traditional Japanese garment. A type of pleated skirt with very wide legs. It runs downwards from the waist and opens like a bell. The hakama consists of a front and back and is tied at the hips with long straps. Basically it is a type of overskirt. Historically it was developed for the mounted samurai.
It is still seen today in Japanese martial arts such as Aikido or Kendo. It is an essential part. Otherwise, a hakama is usually worn on formal occasions such as weddings or tea ceremonies.
The color is mostly black, but there are also blue and red, as well as gray and striped ones.
Liquid Inspiration:
The olfactory inspiration is of course Japan and its culture. The fragrance is intended to be reminiscent of a festive wedding in which the hakama is worn solemnly and proudly. It should be a soft, gentle composition that, without being loud, dresses the wearer like a hakama.
Finest Liquid:
A peppery but not spicy opening, which immediately creates a mood with the freshness of bergamot and the spicy notes of nutmeg and clove, which is also reminiscent of spicy incense sticks. This is also what is intended with the incense and labdanum in the base note. The opulence is carried by the musk.
It is a spicy, aromatic scent that has hints of winter pastries. It doesn't have a particularly dark note. Nevertheless, it plays skillfully with the spice elements (incense, cloves and nutmeg).
One could also classify it as an absolutely non-sweet gourmand.
