Silk Oud

Oud, the resin of the agarwood tree, is a very popular ingredient in perfumes. It used to be known and appreciated only in the Middle East, but now it is known everywhere and is used in many perfumes. Oud can have different characteristics, from deep woody and dark to strong animal notes. For me, oud is like a spice that has to be used in moderation. Too much is unpleasant and too little is useless.

My inspiration for this fragrance is the combination of two elements that are not often found. Firstly, the aforementioned oud, and secondly, a floral, fruity component of plum and iris.
There are a variety of rose/oud combinations, but there are hardly any with iris. My preference for iris is widely known. Add to that the plum as a darker, fruitier component.

The fragrance is supposed to convey a silky feeling. Hence the name Silk, like silk but with an exclamation mark, because the oud plays a role.

Liquid Inspiration:

The Thai natural oud is best suited to represent this characteristic. It is softer than Laos or Cambodian oud and also has a slight animalic note. In addition, as mentioned, the Florentine iris adds a powdery and dry floral note. And the aforementioned plum with the dark fruitiness. That's why a few fresh notes were added to start with in the form of orange and lemon and underlined with pink pepper.

Finest Liquid:

To start with, you get a large dose of iris, which is accompanied by fresh notes of orange and lemon. After a short time, the oud builds up in the background. The plum note garnishes itself a little later. Rather subtly fruity, as plums are, darker, not exotic. The oud gains more space and radiates with its aura. Rose and cedar wood, as well as the base notes of musk, sandalwood and benzoin are just background music for the plum/iris/oud concert.

The fragrance has great fullness and charisma. But it always remains elegant and has no animalistic traits.
