The Cologne Acqua di Genova was created in 1853 by the perfumer Stefano Frecceri for the royal house of Savoy. Within a very short time, the scent enjoyed growing popularity and soon became an irreplaceable part of the morning toilet of many blue-blooded people: a number of European aristocrats and royal families of the time used the Cologne with great passion.

Two people in particular contributed to its great fame and appreciation - Virginia Oldoini and King Vittorio Emanuele II. Virginia Oldoini, the Contessa di Castiglione, was considered one of the most beautiful women in Europe at the time and was known for her appearance, charm and style known, served as a role model for both men and women. She fell in love with Acqua di Genova - and encouraged many other people to use it. King Vittorio Emanuele the Second was so enthusiastic about the cologne that on March 28, 1866 he granted Stefano Frecceri the award of the royal family by royal decree and appointed him official purveyor to the court.

From this point onwards, the triumph of the Acqua di Genova-Cologne could no longer be stopped: it made its way around the world and has received numerous awards and prizes to this day. And today it still has a few brothers and sisters – the line has been expanded to include a few more, no less sophisticated fragrances.
