Limited: 2,500 coins Time is slipping away.
The hourglass has always been a symbol of transience. Before mechanical clocks existed, hourglasses or water clocks were the only way to measure time in one dimension. Hourglasses were available in domestic and luxury versions. In keeping with this ancient craftsmanship, the Perth Mint has now issued what is probably the first hourglass as a coin! A small hourglass has been set into the middle, surrounded by a silver ring with an antique finish. The classic ornaments refer to astronomy with the day and night cycle of the moon and the sun.
